Dear Campus Community,
As we advance work around equity, justice, and inclusive excellence, we have identified the need to create spaces that allow us to delve deeper into the emerging local, national and global issues that undeniably shape our campus climate and experiences
The Office of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion is excited to share our new initiative: Dialogues That Matter, which will continue and build upon the work of our existing Virtual Dialogues Lunch & Learn Series.
Dialogues That Matter are community conversations grounded in love that invite students, staff and faculty of various backgrounds to find bridges, create synergies, build connections and explore toolkits to foster a more inclusive community. This space will not only ensure that impacted communities feel supported, seen and validated, but also that allies have space where they can learn how to support and validate their colleagues. Dialogues That Matter will operate as workshops that share information and tools to empower us all to be active proponents of equity and justice as transformative practitioners.
We will host our first Dialogues That Matter session, “Antisemitism in Our Midst: Past and Present” on Wednesday, March 31 from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. The guest speakers leading us in the workshop are Dr. Ethan Katz, associate professor of History and Jewish Studies at UC Berkeley, and Rabbi Adam Naftalin-Kelman, executive director of Berkeley Hillel.
