Free and open association, discussion and debate are important aspects of institutions of higher education.
Campus leadership encourages frequent interaction and discussion between and among members of the campus community to ensure open avenues of communication around areas of concern. The leadership at UC Merced will ensure peaceful assemblies and protests and protected and encouraged on campus and properties of UC Merced.
As needed, the chancellor or designee will convene a Protocol Oversight Group (POG) to collaboratively oversee peaceful assemblies and protests on campus. (Peaceful Protest Guidelines)
