The new Division of Equity, Justice, and Inclusive Excellence (EJIE) is happy to announce the inaugural Institute for Inclusive Excellence (IIE). The IIE is a multi-session, educational, and skills-building experience for UC Merced faculty and staff that focuses on equity, justice, and inclusive excellence. Five separate modules are planned across the 2022-23 academic year and will highlight topics such as: underrepresentation and anti-racism, consequences of underrepresentation, identifying and launching actions and interventions, and changing systems and accountability. Additionally, a final session will be devoted to delineating campus projects that advance EJIE. The cohort will be capped at 10-12 participants, who are motivated to learn about advancing inclusive excellence at UC Merced and who can make a commitment to be available on all scheduled dates.

In recognition of participants' effort and time commitment, EJIE will provide each participant who completes the program with:

  • A $1500 allowance for professional development activities pertinent to equity and inclusion
  • A personal iPad
  • The possibility to secure up to $5000 for an EJIE-related project, if selected for implementation in AY 2023-2024
